Meet the Team
Investigators
Sheri Price (Co-Lead) (she/her)
Sheri Price is an Associate Professor with the School of Nursing, Dalhousie University, and an Affiliate Scientist at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her research is focused in the areas of health services, professional socialization, interprofessional collaboration and healthcare work environments.
Kim McMillan (Co-Lead) (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing, University of Ottawa and an academic mentor in the Palliative Care and Nursing Ethics Hub (PCNE), a subsidiary of the Centre for Research on Health and Nursing (CRHN) – a partnership between the Canadian Nurses Association and the University of Ottawa. Her program of research focuses on the intersect of organizational life and moral nursing practice.
Trainees
Abby Ayoub (she/her) became a nurse in 2015 after completing her college diploma. After her baccalaureate, she began her Master's degree in Nursing at the University of Ottawa. Her thesis looks at the barriers and facilitators to the nurse practitioner as most responsible model of care within a hospital setting.
Chaman Akoo (she/her) is a nurse clinician specialized in oncology and a Masters student at the University of Ottawa. Inspired by radically collaborative practice, her research interests include the intersection of architecture and health, organizational climates, and qualitative research methodologies. Her present research aims to explore how to create better work environments for nurses through the design of the built environment.
Kenchera Ingraham (she/her) is an experienced Registered Nurse, Researcher, and Educator. Driven by the possibilities of change, her goals include advancing nursing education practices and research with a focus on Indigenous perspectives on health and education. In addition to her primary job functions, Kenchera has been recognized by over 30 scholarship and awards for her exemplary contributions to research and education.
Mylène Shankland (she/her) is a doctoral student at the Institute of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Ottawa. Her thesis examines obstetrical violence (OV) from a clinical ethics perspective. She is interested in the articulation of the values of the stakeholders involved when an OV emerges in the Canadian health care system. She aims to develop an organizational ethics framework that respects the needs and realities of all stakeholders.
Shamel Rolle Sands (she/her) is a Bahamian registered nurse, nurse educator and certified manager. She is a second year doctoral student in the Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta. Shamel's doctoral work will use the Proximal Withdrawal States Theory (PWST) which to her knowledge remains untested in the nursing population, to predict turnover among Nurses working in The Bahamas.
